Playing Catch Up

This is my desktop background.
I made it into tiles.
Florida is no more. Oxford is gross. But I'm one-fifth of the way through the first week back! I really got into reading for fun toward the end of the week, probably because there weren't so many people around the condo. I finished The Hobbit and read pretty far into The Life of Pi. I'd like to take the time this week and finish the book, but I have a lot of responsibilities to see to. Unfortunately (but because it was necessary), I took time to myself in Florida and failed to prepare for my week.

I actually didn't put blogging on my to do list for the day, but I should have, just so I'd be able to cross it off. I didn't cross off as much as I would have liked to today, but that's okay too. A few things came up, like those responsibilities I neglected and trying to figure out when I'm going home for Easter, and why I owe a ridiculous amount of taxes! I also finally asked Dr. Horn to be the third person on my research-project-thingy committee and she said she'd be happy to, despite only knowing me for the nine weeks of the semester we've had. So I accomplished something that will bring me closer to graduating.

I am feeling pretty sleepy and don't have much to say that isn't related to what I need to do or my mild anxiety about my doctor's appointment, so I'll get to the logging...

Week 9 Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday

I took Wednesday off, ran 6 Thursday, took Friday off, and took Sunday off.

Saturday I ran 11 miles. Saturday I ran 11 miles! For some reason, 11 doesn't sound as awesome as ten miles. Double-digits is a more impressive barrier than double-digits plus one, but I was actually excited about it when it happened. When I got back to the condo though, Emily wasn't excited about it, so that was a bit of a damper and I think I just kind of forgot about it until recently. I'm so close to 13 and my pace is still..."not bad," especially when you consider the mysterious coughing and the broken down body I ran 11 on. Do all runners do this, by the way? The whole, if I had tapered, or if the weather were such and such, or if only my knee held up, I could have ran blah blah blah... I do it all the time. It can be empowering.
