I'm in Miami Trick

There are lizards here too.
I'm actually in Fort Myers Beach. It's warm, sunny, and Florida. A lot of things have been happening, rather a lot of things were happening and it seems like it's slowing down and letting me relax a little bit. I've had a cough for a while, but it got incredibly bad on Wednesday. Coughs are exhausting. On Green Beer Day, I got up at 3:20AM to collect data with Dr. Ward. From 4:00AM to 8:00AM, I collected data, went to class at 9:30AM, finished class around 12:30PM, ran 5 afterwards, went back to collect data from 3:00PM to 6:00PM, but Dr. Ward told me to leave early. I suspect she was tired of hearing me cough. I finished my responsibilities for the research component of my assistantship, went to Pilates, then passed out. We were leaving Friday, but I needed to run, go to book club, pack, clean, and take Winnie to my dad before I was able to go. On my run, I fell. It was funny, but not at the time. I was about to turn a corner when I saw a lady with a formidable German Shepherd. Of course, I was looking at the dog anxiously, I slipped and fell pretty hard on the sidewalk. It hurt, but a nice firm part of my knee took about half the hit and my hand took the rest. It was challenging to hold my suitcase. When I took my dog to meet my dad, I forgot the cookies I had put aside for him, so I felt like a terrible daughter. Then I didn't realize Winnie threw up in my car...All over the backseat. My exhausted self couldn't deal with anymore. Sometimes, I'd rather have something big happen than a bunch of small insignificant things.

My ribs were sore Friday night when I went to bed from coughing. I was uncomfortable when I was turning over, but it was nothing compared to the feeling I had after I had run. I've been taking loads of Motrin ever since and moving pretty gingerly. I think I'm finally starting to feel better, but we'll see when I run tomorrow.

Week 8 Friday, Saturday, and Sunday

Friday, I ran a pretty terrible three miles. It was tough mentally to get out and then it was tough to fall down. My hand is still a little swollen.

Saturday, I ran ten miles in Florida at a good pace for me! I was so excited to be running in shorts in Florida that I didn't pay much attention to the pace until the last two miles at which point, I felt awful. It was as if it were the end of one of those races where you're just trying to survive and finish. I'm actually pretty sore today, which hasn't happened from a long run in a long time. After the run, I was pretty dysfunctional because of my ribs. Saturday around 11:00AM was about the time I started taking lots of pain killers. Hopefully my runs this upcoming week end a little less painfully.

Today, I took completely off. I figured it was nice that my ribs are healing and didn't want to test that yet. I haven't been coughing as much, so hopefully everything will be good by the middle of the week. It's funny that you don't know how much you use your core area until it's sore or hurting.
